The Kaufman Interfaith Institute is thrilled to introduce a new member of the team, Elamin Gasim. Elamin was born in the United Arab Emirates, lived in Scotland, grew up in Sudan, and is now based in the United States. After studying Pharmacy, he explored many avenues, from working with intergovernmental agencies concerned with migrants to initiatives promoting connections between grassroots development efforts across South Sudan, Sudan, and Ethiopia. He also hosted a radio show and co-founded a poetry group focused on self-expression and free speech. Throughout these experiences, forming genuine human connections has been the most significant and fulfilling through line. Though the path of life often winds, it seems like no coincidence that he is now working at the Kaufman Interfaith Institute, a place distinctively geared towards fostering relationships between people built on a basis of understanding.
Elamin began working as our Office Coordinator a month ago, and already, we can't imagine the office without him! We hope you'll join us in welcoming him to Kaufman, GVSU, and the Grand Rapids community when next you see him.
