BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
BOYS XC DISTRICT RUNNER-UP
COMETS QUALIFY TO REGIONAL
On Saturday, the Mason Boys Cross Country team secured their 18th consecutive trip to Regionals with a runner-up finish at the Southwest District Championships at VOA Park. The Comets had their fastest day in the program's history but came up 5 points short of the victory, falling to a spectacular run by the Little Miami Panthers 30-35.

Junior Caden Winship won his second race in a row with a tough stretch run to obtain individual honors in the second-fastest time in Mason history - 15:07.

The second man for the Comets was Senior co-captain Will Buckalew. He was followed in the scoring by fellow Senior Jason Xu, Junior Luke Berkebile, and Sophomore Paras Yadav. Senior co-captain Max Greco and Sophomore Eligh Amshoff served ably as displacers.

Every Comet ran a season's best time and six of the seven ran lifetime personal records.

The Comets will take on the toughest Regional in Ohio next Saturday at Troy with hopes of securing a bid to the XC State Championship.

The Comets will be seeking their 9th Regional Title and 18th consecutive trip to State. Mason is the defending Regional Champ and finished State Runner-up in 2023.

The top 5 teams and top 20 individual athletes will qualify for the State Championships at Fortress Obetz on Saturday, Nov. 2nd.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
GIRLS XC WINS 17TH DISTRICT TITLE!

The District Championship was held Saturday at Voice of America Park.  With a great group of fans, the girls donned their new fun uniforms and ran to victory against Loveland, Sycamore, Turpin, Ursula, Seton, Kings, and others.  For Mason Girls XC it was their 6th straight District Title and 17th overall as a Division 1 program.

The team ran well and was able to score 35 points en route to a solid victory.  Loveland put up a good fight early, then the girls poured it on in mile 2 and 3, and pulled off a nice W for the books.

The team was led by Efa Paschka who placed 2nd, and not too far behind was senior captain Addi Stephens who ran to a new personal best time for 3rd place overall.

Atalia Hawkins got out like a house on fire and led the race for over 1/2 mile.  She faded some but held on for 7th place and a respectable time.

The big story of the day was Eva Mathur, the freshman who ran out of her mind, and had nearly a 1 minute personal best, with Sophomore Emily Moran not far behind, and a huge best time for her as well.  Bella Teply and Tessa Palmer ran tough in this strong field of talented runners.

The team took charge early and never looked back.  It was a great team effort and we are so proud of these young ladies.

Mason Girls XC moves on to this coming Saturday's Regional at Troy and will face the best that Dayton has to offer, plus some other SW Ohio teams that are running well. The regional meet should be a good test, but the girls look like they are peaking at the right time.

The top 5 teams and 20 individuals will advance to the State Championships at Fortress Obetz on Saturday, Nov. 2nd.

Mason will be seeking to win their 3rd consecutive Regional Title, 10th overall, and qualify for the State Championships for the 20th time in the past 21 years.

Come on up and cheer them on, they run at 2:45 at Troy Memorial Stadium, and it should be a show.
