  HALLOWEEN HAPPENINGS  
 October 31  Halloween on the Hilltop
4-6 p.m. Monday | Academic Quad | Halloween on the Hilltop is tonight! Children 12 and under are invited to join us on campus for inflatables, games, candy, and more, hosted by Student Development and campus organizations. Please be aware that there will be community members coming onto campus, which may affect traffic on campus and parking availability in the Library Parking Lot. In the case of rain, this will become a drive-through trick-or-treat event. 

 October 31  Halloween Organ Spooktacular    
9 p.m. | Hill Music Building Recital Hall | Lecture and Arts Credit | The annual BSC Halloween Organ Spooktacular is tonight! Come early to enjoy the Association of Music Students' "Haunted Hill" and stay for the spooky music, hosted by Prof. Lester Seigel. A spooky reception of Halloween snacks and refreshments will start at 8 p.m.

Congratulations to Danielle Ivey Buchanan, Director of Annual Giving, for being selected to present at the 2022 Southeastern Annual Giving Conference. She will represent Birmingham-Southern among advancement professionals from across the Southeast in New Orleans next week with her presentation, "Engaging Students to Tell Your Institution’s Story," and as a panelist for "A Forum for the Mature Giving Day."

11 a.m. | Hill Amphitheatre | Learn about the historical significance of writing haikus, and then write one with Professor Joseph Stitt.
 November 3  Active Minds Presents: A Guided Mediation with Nick Shindo Street 
11 a.m. | Norton Theatre | Lecture and Arts Credit | Join Nick Shendo Street, a Zen Priest and a former Buddhist Monk, as he presents "The Art of Meditation: A Brief History and Guided Practice." He will teach about meditation practices, and lead students through a guided meditation at the end of the session. 
 November 4  Underground Theatre Cabaret
7:30-9 p.m. | Underground Theatre | A spectacular cabaret night of amazing singers who will perform songs that they wouldn’t normally do.

Sponsored by Career Services, the Krulak Institute, Panhellenic Council, Cross Cultural Committee, Black Women's Union, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Join us and Momentum to prepare women for the workplace and beyond! During this event we will have three breakout sessions that focus on overcoming imposter syndrome, intentional networking, and the value of mentoring. There will also be a chance for networking with peers and Momentum mentors following the breakout sessions. Attire is business casual, and we will provide light snacks during the networking portion of the event. Career Peers
BSC's first ever Career Peers - Julia Scarinci and Nathan Benko - will be available to all students via office hours each week to go over resumes, cover letters, personal statements, and to discuss internships and study abroad. Book appointments via Handshake and learn more about Julia and Nathan here.
E-Term Project Changes
There have been several changes to E-Term project offerings since the bulletin was printed. Self-Service is always up to date as is the online version of the bulletin. Contracts for individualized E-Term projects should be submitted by Nov. 2, though early submissions are welcome! Please contact the Krulak Institute, krulakinst@bsc.edu, if you have any questions.
Sponsored external scholarships for study or internships abroad
Critical Language Scholarship - for students interested in studying critical languages (beginner to advanced levels) Deadline: mid-November.
Fund for Education Abroad - open to students with US citizenship, DACA, permanent residency (preference for students with high financial need and underrepresented in study abroad) Deadline - early January.

Submit contracts for individualized study on Engage by Nov. 2. Use the Academic Contract Proposal Worksheet to draft the contract.
