The Importance of La Salida |
La Salida or “the exit” is the outcome we as educators and practitioners dream of for our students. This is the season for year-end celebrations and commencement. A time that our students will remember as the culmination of their journey and path (caminos) that has led them to this point.
"We have assisted our students toward achieving a goal that may have felt seemingly out of reach, and they poured their energy into accomplishing it. They have reached La Salida. Congratulations Bears, you made it!" — Tobias Guzmán, Ed.D.
Commencement is both the launch of a new career for graduating students and the start to their life-long connection to UNC as alumni. Connect the graduates you know to resources available through UNC’s Center for Career Readiness and the Office of Alumni Relations.

Transforming HSIs for Equity & Justice by Gina Garcia
In Transforming Hispanic-Serving Institutions for Equity and Justice, Gina Ann Garcia argues that in order to serve Latinx students and other students of color, these institutions must acknowledge how whiteness operates across the organization, from the ways that it is governed and how decisions are made to how education and knowledge are delivered.
This summer, we will be hosting three in-person/virtual sessions. Please complete the linked form to participate. Resources are limited to the first 50 respondents.
