GIRLS' TENNIS DOMINATES AT DISTRICT!
ALL 7 COMETS OHSAA STATE BOUND!
The Mason Girls Tennis Team continued its postseason dominance at the District Championships held Saturday, October 11, at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
Senior Addison Cassidy captured the District Singles Title, defeating Renee Harper of Oak Hills 6-1, 6-4 in the semifinals before overpowering Ainsley Violette of Beavercreek 6-1, 6-2 in the championship match. Cassidy will enter the OHSAA State Tournament as a #1 seed. State play begins Thursday, October 16, at 9:00 AM at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.
The Comets also swept the doubles competition. In an all-Mason final, the team of Saanvi Reddy and Adriana Moreno defeated sectional champions Pratyusha Chaudhuri and Emma Wagner in a thrilling three-set match, 6-1, 0-6, 6-4, to claim the District Doubles Title.
Mason’s second doubles duo, Bhavana Singidi and Vanmay Podili, finished fourth overall. They fell to Chaudhuri and Wagner in the semifinals (6-1, 6-1) and were topped by Sycamore’s Sayles sisters 6-2, 6-0 in the third-place match.
For the second consecutive year, the Comets have advanced all seven players to the OHSAA State Tournament — a remarkable accomplishment that underscores the depth and talent of the program.
In addition to individual success, the Comets have also earned a berth in the OTCA Team Final Four, which will be played Saturday, October 18, at Mason High School beginning at 8:00 AM. This marks Mason’s 11th straight Final Four appearance as the Comets pursue their ninth consecutive State Team Championship.
