SOFTBALL SHUTS OUT FAIRFIELD!
Alisha Fox was dominant in the circle, as the righty rang up 14 strikeouts in Mason Varsity Comets's 5-0 victory over Fairfield Varsity Indians on Thursday. Fox allowed three hits and zero runs over seven innings while walking one.
Mason Varsity Comets got on the board in the top of the fifth inning after Addie McBrayer singled, scoring one run, and Fox homered to center field, scoring three runs.
Megan Spence opened the game for the Fairfield Varsity Indians. The right-handed pitcher allowed 10 hits and five runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking two.
Mason Varsity Comets tallied 10 hits in the game. Fox drove the middle of the lineup, leading Mason Varsity Comets with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. McBrayer, Annabelle Geiser, and Avery Clayton each collected two hits for Mason Varsity Comets. Geiser stole two bases.
Sierra Parrott, Spence, and #11 each collected one hit for the Fairfield Varsity Indians. Fairfield Varsity Indians were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Addy Huey made the most plays with six.
Mason Varsity Comets (7-2, 4-0) play at home on Friday against Lakota West Varsity Firebirds in their next game. Softball will make up their home game with Oak Hills on Saturday, beginning at 2:00.
