  BSC Forward
A Path to Financial Resilience
BSC has raised $45.5 million in documented commitments toward a $200 million endowment fund goal. To give us enough time to raise the remainder of the endowment goal and give BSC room to operate, the College is seeking a one-time contribution of bridge funding from state government of $30 million, as well as $5 million from the City of Birmingham and $2.5 million from Jefferson County.
Thank you to everyone who has written letters, sent emails, or made phone calls to Alabama's decision makers. If you haven’t yet had the chance to do so, now is the time.

  OPPORTUNITIES
Free Lifeguard Classes
The YMCA of Greater Birmingham is working to strengthen and deepen the pool of lifeguards in Birmingham and the surrounding area by providing FREE lifeguard classes to the community. When you become a lifeguard, you are given the skills to save lives. In the last few years, the Birmingham area has had pools that have stayed closed and pools that have become swim-at-your-own-risk because of the lifeguard shortage. We at the YMCA do not want that to happen this year. If you want to become a lifeguard, please register for a class at The YMCA of Greater Birmingham website: Certifications - The YMCA of Greater Birmingham: For A Better Us (ymcabham.org).
