The 23rd Annual UMKC Symposium of Undergraduate Research and Creative Scholarship showcases the research, scholarly and creative projects from undergraduate students across the UMKC campus. More than 250 students will present on topics ranging from comparative politics to genetic research, urban soil composition to digital humanities, health issues and much more.

For the sixth year in a row, the Master of Fine Arts in costume design program was ranked among Top 10 by The Hollywood Reporter for its training in both costume design and production, its emphasis on digital graphic skills, entrepreneurial approaches to the field and environmentally conscious practices.

The American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) selected its UMKC chapter from nearly 130 chapters across the country to receive the top national awards for the school’s local community engagement initiatives as well as a number of individual awards and recognitions.

Freedom Riders: Join the discussion with Dion Diamond, Joan Browning, Lenora Taitt-Magubane and Bernard LaFayette Jr., a panel of Freedom Riders who rode buses and trains across the American South to challenge segregation.

Military Friendly: For the 2023-2024 school year, UMKC has been awarded the Gold designation by Military Friendly. The organization grades universities in six categories and after earning silver last school year, UMKC has met the standards for the top designation.

Save the Date - UMKC Day at the Zoo: We're thrilled to continue our relationship with the Kansas City Zoo and sponsor our favorite animal habitat! To celebrate, we're hosting a UMKC Day at the Zoo May 20.

Roo Advising: The results of the student advising feedback and satisfaction survey are in! Over 700 students responded and nearly 90% of students said someone or something at Roo Advising contributed to having an exceptional advising experience. However, there is always room for improvement and results showed that starts with helping students understand how to use advising tools like PlanMyDegree, Connect and Pathway, as well as more outreach and follow ups.

Kansas City AIDS Walk: The Kansas City AIDS Walk will be held on Saturday, May 6 between the about 9:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. and the route will bring an estimated 3,000 participants through the UMKC Volker Campus. Please plan accordingly if you need to travel near campus that day.
