STATE FINAL FOUR BOUND!
The Comets (26-6) will play Perrysburg (25-7) in the state semifinals at 7 p.m. Friday, June 7 at Canal Park in Akron, the home stadium of the Akron Rubber Ducks, the Double-A minor league team in the Cleveland Guardians’ organization.
The Yellow Jackets defeated St. Edwards 8-2 to punch their ticket to the State Final Four. Perrysburg finished as DI state runner-up in 2011 and also qualified for the state final four in 2003 but, like the Comets, has never won a state baseball title.
Mason will be making their fourth appearance at State. In 1987, under legendary coach Ken Gray, the Comets were the Division 2 State Runner-up. In their 2018 and 2022 appearances, Mason fell in both games in the state semi-final games.
If Mason can defeat Perrysburg, the Comets will be playing for a state championship against the winner of Twinsburg and Delaware Olentangy Berlin at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 9 at Canal Park.
