Dear Parent,
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome back all of the families who had their child(ren) enrolled in St. Vincent de Paul School last year and extend a warm welcome to all whose children are entering our school community. The teachers and staff look forward to a year of shared responsibility with parents in building Catholic values, ideals, and academic excellence. Thank you for allowing all of us the privilege of helping your child(ren) grow, both spiritually and academically.
I would like to personally invite every family to the K-8 Open House on August 15. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, reacquaint with friends, and bring in school supplies. Open House runs from 5:00-6:30 P.M. A special thank you to the Men’s Club for offering ice cream treats as you leave that evening. I appreciate their thoughtfulness and generosity as we kick off the new school year.
Our school theme for 2023-2024 is "Be More."
1) Our goal with this theme is to find ways we can develop the talents and gifts God has given each of us.
2) Some examples to "Be More" helpful, creative, supportive, cheerful, considerate and the list can go on. As we move through this school year, we will provide opportunities for our students and staff to continue to reflect on this theme. As a family, we hope you will carry this theme into your homes.
Again, I welcome you as partners in the education of your child(ren). If I can do anything for you this year, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am always willing to listen or help in any way I can. Your child is important to me!
I look forward to the new school year with eagerness and gratitude. Thank you for entrusting us with your child(ren)!
With love and gratitude,

Welcome, New Teachers and Staff
I am happy to welcome the following new members to the St. Vincent de Paul Community:
Fr. Padraic Stack will be the new associate pastor. After his seminary study at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in Saint Louis, Fr. Stack was ordained as a priest in 2018. Fr. Stack has served as associate pastor at Saint Stephen the Martyr Parish and most recently is the associate Pastor at Saint Patrick’s Parish in Elkhorn. Our teachers and staff experienced Fr. Stack two years ago, as he did our opening morning of renewal during our August in-service. We all fondly remember how he touched our hearts in many ways. We look forward to having Fr. with us on a daily basis.
Mrs. Courtney Eden will be our new administrative assistant. Mrs. Eden has both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in speech-language pathology. She has worked in both school and hospital settings over the last 22 years. Mrs. Eden is married and has two children.

She worked 23 years as a middle school teacher in California public schools. Mrs. Singh, her husband and three children, relocated to Omaha two years ago.
Mrs. Dakota Goodwin will be teaching music to the students in grades 6-8. Mrs. Goodwin is a recent graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. This will be her first year of teaching, but she has had several teaching experiences in Omaha, Ralston, Westside, and the Omaha Archdiocese. She also teaches private lessons at Thompson Music.
Mrs. Annie Sortino will be a new TA working in K2 with Mrs. Millar. Annie's teaching experience ranges from preschool to 6th grade to gifted education. Annie and her husband have two children in college. Annie is excited to join the St. Vincent de Paul school community and the kindergarten team.

Progress Reports
Grades K-2
Progress Reports are sent to parents of students at mid-quarter. This is ample time for a student to improve before report cards are distributed. The report that is sent home must be signed and returned. Progress Reports will be sent home Monday, September 18.
Grades 3-8
Parents of students in Grades 3-8 can access student grades through PowerSchool, which provides the most current information. Teachers in grades 3-8 update PowerSchool grades at least every 2 weeks. Therefore, hard copies of progress reports will not be sent home with students in grades 3-8. It is the responsibility of parents to access PowerSchool grades on a regular basis.

School Safety Information
This summer the St. Vincent de Paul Administration, representatives from the teachers and TAs, school nurse, religious formation director, and maintenance staff attended a 2-day training on school safety where they addressed the school's current safety protocols with law enforcement officers and safety specialists. The law enforcement officers commended SVdP on their proactive and extensive safety measures, stating that our school was one of the safest and most secure schools they had seen. In addition to our already robust security measures, those in attendance at the training have reviewed the procedures and protocols for evacuation and reunification in the event of any emergency requiring the school and/or campus to be vacated. This updated information has been shared with all the teachers and staff. We would like to offer our sincere appreciation to our teachers, staff, parents, and visitors for their cooperation and their dedication to student and staff safety as we look forward to another great year!
