Dr. Alan Litsey
Not long after his 60th birthday, BSC Professor of Theatre Dr. Alan Litsey took up martial arts without any research — not even one Chuck Norris movie, he says. More than four years later, he's a black belt in Tang Soo Do, and still sees himself as a beginner.

 May 1  Senior Chapel
7:30 p.m. Monday | Yeilding Chapel | Come hear several BSC seniors share reflection talks in the service and stay for some smooshie pie and ice cream.
 May 1  BSC Hilltop Singers  — The Season Finale!
7:30 p.m. Monday | Hill Music Building, Recital Room | The BSC Hilltop Singers present their 2022-2023 show, with the inimitable "Senior Solos!" 
 May 2  Dead Weight: Runic Inscriptions and Buried Books in Medieval England 
11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Tuesday | Harbert Auditorium | Join the Krulak Institute and the departments of English and Modern Foreign Language for a talk with Dr. Jill Hamilton Clements (UAB). Dr. Clements, an expert in Medieval literature and archaeology, will discuss her groundbreaking research into Early English death rituals. For centuries, scholars have been baffled by mysterious runic stones found across North England. Dr. Clements will discuss how her research into Early English beliefs about death and dying helps to unlock these stones' long forgotten purpose. A Lecture and Arts event. 
 May 2 and 3  Health Fair and STI Testing Clinic
8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. Tuesday and 1-4 p.m. Wednesday | Norton Campus Center | Cahaba Medical and BSC Health Services is hosting a FREE and CONFIDENTIAL Health Fair and STI Testing Clinic for the entire campus community, including students, faculty, and staff. There are two opportunities to come by and visit: Tuesday, May 2 in the Greensboro Room and Wednesday, May 3 in the SGA Meeting Room. Both are located on the second floor of Norton. Blood pressure, blood sugar, anxiety, and depression screenings can be done. HIV, clamydia, gonnorrhea, and trichomonoiasis testing will also be availabe. NO INSURANCE REQUIRED. Questions?  May 3  Young Alumni Council Senior Send-Off
5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Wednesday | Hill Amphitheater | The Young Alumni Council invites the BSC Class of 2023 to a "Senior Send-Off" on Wednesday night, May 3 at 5:30 p.m. in Hill Amphitheater. Network with graduates of the last decade while enjoying chips, salsa, beer, margarita punch, and non-alcoholic beverages. Each senior will receive two drink tickets for the event. Come get great advice about transitioning from the Hilltop into graduate school, or your first job! We hope to see you there. Reserve your spot here.
 May 4  Honors Day Convocation
10 a.m. Thursday | Munger Hall Auditorium | Graduating seniors, the Honors Day Convocation is Thursday, May 4, in Munger Auditorium. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. All seniors will assemble on the Academic Quad in front of Phillips Administration by 9:45 a.m. In the event of rain, seniors will assemble on the third floor of Munger Hall. Please remember to wear both your caps and gowns for the convocation. A reception will follow in Bruno Great Hall. This year's Honors Day speaker is Rachel Buchan '15, Economic Development Project Administrator for the City of Birmingham.
 May 7  Darter Festival
12-5 p.m. Sunday | Avondale Brewing Company | Shaheed and DJ Supreme will perform at the 10th Anniversary Darter Fest. With the help of Birmingham elementary students and Roald Hazelhoff, director of the Southern Environmental Center at BSC, they filmed a video for "World of Water" at locations across campus and at McWane Science Center.  May 8 and 9  Student Directed One Acts
7:30 p.m. Monday | The Theatre Underground | An uproarious and often unpredictable evening of drama and comedy, as presented by first-time student directors as a part of the requirements for THA 403, Directing and Stage Management. Admission is free and seating is on a first come, first served basis.
