U.S. News & World Report Rankings


The 2023 list of Best Colleges is out, and BSC has moved up once again — from #128 to #111! BSC is also one of 45 colleges included in the 2023 U.S. News & World Report — A+ Schools for B Students (National Liberal Arts Colleges) list. There are about 500 liberal arts colleges in the United States; fewer than half are included in U.S. News & World Report’s “national liberal arts college” rankings.  September 12  Worship in the Chapel
7:30 p.m. Tonight | Yeilding Chapel | Join us as we continue the series, "People of Courage." Worship is student-led and Chaplain Julie Holly will preach a short message. All are invited, and snacks are provided.

 September 13  Religious Life's Small Groups Pop Up
11 a.m - Noon Tuesday | Alumni Fountain | Pop by our tables to learn more about Small Groups. Grab a cool treat and enjoy time in our hammocks, too! 
 September 15  Academic Bootcamp
11 a.m. Thursday | Munger Auditorium | 
The next two sessions of Academic Bootcamp will be held Sept. 15 and 22. All first-year and transfer students are required to attend. The sessions cover academic success tools for the first year at BSC. Attendance will be taken.
 September 17  Constitution Day
Noon-4 p.m. Saturday | Library | 
The BSC Library, as part of the Federal Depository Library Program, will provide pocket-sized copies of the U.S. Constitution free of charge. Pick up your copy from the basket on the old Reference Desk on the main floor.

 September 22  7th Annual Krulak Institute Poster Expo
11 a.m. | Bruno Great Hall | Norton Campus Center | Students who've engaged in experiential learning projects (e.g., collaborative research, internships, service-learning, study abroad experiences, etc.) will share their experiences. Submit final posters to Amanda Coshatt by 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12.

 September 22  Mobile Market
9:30 a.m.-Noon | Alumni Fountain | Norton Campus Center | 
The Live HealthSmart Alabama Mobile Market will provide fruits, veggies, dairy, proteins, and pantry staples at no cost to students, and available at retail price for faculty and staff. Student Survey: Win a Gift Card
Give feedback on your BSC arrival experience. New students, this includes a survey about orientation - emailed to you last week. A drawing for gift cards will be held Friday for those who submit contact information (responses are separated from feedback). Complete the survey here.
First Gen Students: Win a Starbucks Gift Card
Are you the first person in your family to go to college? Record and upload a video following the instructions here by Sept. 16, and you'll be entered to win a Starbucks gift card. The videos will be featured during Giving Tuesday, when the BSC family comes together to create a first generation student scholarship.
Travel to Belize

Independent Study Contract Changes

Submit contracts for individualized study on Engage by Nov. 2. Use the Academic Contract Proposal Worksheet to draft the contract. Once completed, copy and paste relevant information into the online form. Both the form and the worksheet are linked on the Krulak Institute Forms page. Questions? Contact krulakinst@bsc.edu.

Graphic Design Blackout Dates
Communications will be in production on ’Southern Magazine Oct. 25 - Nov. 12. Submit requests by Sept. 25 to be completed before Oct. 25. Requests received during blackout dates will be considered for production after Nov. 12. Request projects here.

Web Design Blackout Dates
Website design projects will be placed on hold beginning Nov. 7 through the end of the year. Only simple updates to text or photos will be made.
