COMETS STAY GMC PERFECT

Mason outlasted Fairfield 3-2 to get the season sweep in a game dominated by pitching on Monday afternoon.  Tied 2-2 going into the top of the seventh, Drew
Johnson hit a hard ground ball and forced a fielding error.  Awarded
second base with one out, Cade Landheer delivered the game-winning
single to score Johnson.

Fairfield battled back, loading the bases in the bottom of the seventh.  Mason escaped the situation, not allowing a run when a foul ball was popped up to catcher JJ Darst for the first out.  Johnson fielded a sharp ground ball, and he started the
game-ending double play by feeding to shortstop Chase Cox, who made
the turn to first baseman Isaac Vargo, Liam Sander pitched a complete game, allowing 4 hits, striking out 10 while walking one.

Mason is now 10-0 in conference play (11-1 overall) and will take on Lakota West TODAY, Wednesday, 4/23, for the first of the two-game series.  Game time is 5:00 at Lakota West High School.
