MASON BASEBALL RETURNS TO REGIONAL FINAL — VISCONTI THROWS SECOND PLAYOFF NO-HITTER!

OXFORD, OH — The defending Division I State Champion Mason Comets are headed back to the OHSAA Regional Final after a commanding 7-0 shutout victory over Oak Hills on Wednesday at Miami University’s McKie Field.

Senior ace Andrew Visconti was nearly untouchable, tossing his second playoff no-hitter in as many starts. Visconti struck out nine and walked four in a dominant complete-game performance. The win improves his season record to 6-1, and he has now allowed just eight hits over 37 innings pitched in 2025.

Visconti’s brilliance on the mound was backed early by a potent Comet offense. JJ Darst, Liam Sander, and Isaac Vargo each delivered RBI hits in a four-run first inning that set the tone. In the fourth, Drew Johnson electrified the crowd with an inside-the-park home run, plating two more.

Mason totaled nine hits on the day, with Vargo going 2-for-3 and Johnson and Sander each driving in a pair of runs. The Comets played clean, efficient baseball throughout to notch their third Regional Final appearance in the past four years.

Mason (25-5) will face Springboro (22-8) in the Regional Final on Thursday, TODAY, at 5:00 p.m., again at McKie Field. The Panthers advanced with a narrow win over Beavercreek in the other semifinal. Mason and Springboro last met in 2019, a 12-6 Comets victory.

The Comets are aiming for their fifth Regional Championship (previous titles in 1987 (D2), 2018, 2022, and 2024) and a return trip to the OHSAA State Final Four, where they will face the winner of Medina vs. Perrysburg in a semifinal game scheduled for Saturday, June 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium in Canton, Ohio.

Mason continues its quest to defend its 2024 state title and add another chapter to its storied postseason tradition.
