Dear Friend:
Sunday, May 4th: She came to Rescue K911 just this afternoon.  An elderly yellow lab in pretty rough shape. The man who pulled up our driveway said he found her along the roadside, laying in a ditch. She had a hard time walking, she had a cyst on her right hind quarter and pretty bad diarrhea. We really didn't have the space, but we couldn't turn her away. We took her in, made her a soft bed, along with our other elderly residents in Shadows Rest. We named her Mable.
Monday, May 5th: We took Mabel to the Dadeville Animal Clinic first thing. Dr. Lisa said she is probably 10-12 years old. She is heartworm positive. She has alot of arthritis is her knees and hips. The mass on her side looks to be a Lypo sarcoma and will need to be removed as soon as she gets a bit stronger.  She was dehydrated so her kidney values were up. She has now begun to eat and drink so that is good news. She is now on daily  pain meds, has been wormed, and on a good diet.
Sunday, May 17th: After two weeks time, Mabel continues to improve, eating and drinking well.  At first we had to help Mabel get up, but now she is stronger and can get up and down on her own, thought it is still painful for her.  She likes to venture outside and goes to the bathroom.  She is loving and so very precious and gets along well with her other elderly friends in Shadow's Rest. She loves attention and her tail never stops wagging.  Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Her care, and medical needs will be ongoing, and we are doing all we can to help her along.                                    (We will keep you updated as to how she is doing).
If you would like to help Mabel, help towards her care and medical expenses, we would appreciate it so very much, and I know Mabel would too.

Thank you so very much for all your love and support to us!

& all the little ones of Rescue K911
This is the day Mabel came in to us on May 4, 2014.
Now two weeks later, she is stronger, gets up now on her own and ventures outside.
Mabel is curious and loves her new home at Shadow's Rest.  (I love this picture of her and her shadow)
Mabel sends her love and appreciation to everyone that has helped her along.
