Vol. 4 | December  2014
Message from Maree
As 2014, and my first year here with De Paul, comes to a close I am proud of what we have accomplished as an organization. We have spent the past 12 months improving our programs, raising funds to help offset the cost of treatment, and meeting the challenges and opportunities of the Affordable Care Act. Our adult detox program has been very successful since it's reopening last November. We also have implemented a youth detox program in October. We had our most successful Freedom Award Luncheon this year, raising almost $235,000, over $30,000 more than the past year. We received a $325,000 grant from the Maybelle Clark McDonald Fund for capacity building and improvements to our youth program.
With all of our successes, we still have much work to do in the years to come. Did you know that Oregon is ranked 3rd in the nation for illicit drug dependency, yet only 10% of people that need help in Oregon actually get treatment. We can all make a difference to ensure that anyone who wants treatment gets the help they need for this devastating disease. Help us tell a different story about addiction in Oregon - one we can all be proud of.
Holidays at De Paul
Celebrating the holidays with clients is a long standing tradition at De Paul Treatment Centers. This Thanksgiving 210 guests joined our 120 clients for Thanksgiving dinner put on by our amazing kitchen staff. In December, volunteers and staff organize parties for our men, women, and youth clients filled with food, caroling, and inspirational speakers.  The parties and gifts provide an opportunity for our clients to enjoy the holidays and feel special as they continue their treatment.
Families are invited to spend time with their loved ones in treatment. When families are involved in a client’s treatment it significantly increases their completion rate compared to those that don’t participate in family therapy.
Alumni Spotlight
Erin DeVet, Director of De Paul's Youth & Family Services and alum of our adult residential program, shares her story of recovery and new beginnings. Help us continue to transform lives like Erin's and make her story possible for countless others.
