As 2014, and my first year here with De Paul, comes to a close I am proud of what we have accomplished as an organization. We have spent the past 12 months improving our programs, raising funds to help offset the cost of treatment, and meeting the challenges and opportunities of the Affordable Care Act. Our adult detox program has been very successful since it's reopening last November. We also have implemented a youth detox program in October. We had our most successful Freedom Award Luncheon this year, raising almost $235,000, over $30,000 more than the past year. We received a $325,000 grant from the Maybelle Clark McDonald Fund for capacity building and improvements to our youth program.
With all of our successes, we still have much work to do in the years to come. Did you know that Oregon is ranked 3rd in the nation for illicit drug dependency, yet only 10% of people that need help in Oregon actually get treatment. We can all make a difference to ensure that anyone who wants treatment gets the help they need for this devastating disease. Help us tell a different story about addiction in Oregon - one we can all be proud of.
