Dear Loyola community,
As Loyola Week draws to a close, today we take time to honor those who serve our country in the armed forces. As we celebrate Veterans Day, I encourage us all to find a way to thank those who have served and continue to serve our country.
Loyola has a proud tradition of honoring, recognizing and supporting our veterans and their families as they pursue their degrees. Our campus expanded significantly after World War II when the GI Bill sent more students back to the classrooms. Since then, we’ve sought to provide the resources to make veterans’ transition back to college and the workforce as seamless as possible. We make sure that our students who are veterans or on active duty are connected with the academic, financial, and health resources that they need to be successful.
To our veterans, and to those who continue to serve in the military, we thank you today and every day for what you do and the sacrifices you’ve made for us. We invite you to the Orleans Room for a complimentary lunch, courtesy of Sodexo (with your military ID). And, please stop by the President’s Office at Marquette Hall at your convenience so I can personally thank you for your service and offer my encouragement as you work towards completing your degree at Loyola.
Gratefully,
Justin Daffron, S.J.
Interim President
