Music, Ice Cream and More at Music a la Mode Event Wednesday

Join your neighbors for the first Music a la Mode concert event of the season on Wednesday, June 11 from 6-8 p.m. at the Ranch House Pool. The free event will feature music by the Jay and Neil Show, a two-man band with a full sound that rivals many bands with more members. Their song list features rock and pop cover songs from as far back as Elvis to as recent as Coldplay. Archie’s Dog House will be on hand to sell hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, sodas and many other items. Kids can get their face painted by Suzi-Q-Z and Michelle Riccardi, enjoy free ice cream, get a balloon sculpture, and jump on the bounce house.

New Community Park Playground Will Open Monday, June 23

The Community Park playground, across the street from Shaffer Elementary, is almost complete! Due to weather delays, the new recycled tire surface won't be installed as quickly as we hoped, so the new playground will now open Monday, June 23.

Public Hearing Regarding Heirloom Park

Residents are invited to attend a public hearing on Tuesday, June 24 at 6 p.m. at the Ranch House regarding the concept plan for Heirloom Park, located at 1 Mountain Oak in the Valley. The public hearing will be part of the Metro District's Board meeting, and it will be the first item on the agenda. We encourage residents to attend and provide feedback on the proposed concept for the park.

Needed Now: Get Involved in Bond Project and Community Planning

With the passage of the 5A Bond Issue, many usage and design needs for our facilities and amenities must be closely assessed in a short period of time. Volunteers are needed to work in Project Groups to develop input in the planning stages for improvements to the various facilities, playgrounds, landscaping and more. The Project Groups will work with the Community Planning Committee, which will obtain community input, refine the findings, prioritize and report to the Boards. All recommendations will be publicly communicated. The Metro District will review the bond project recommendations and community feedback and direct the work of the architect(s). If you are interested in joining a Project Group, please email your specific area(s) of interest and your area(s) of expertise to District Manager Darrell Windes at darrellw@kcranch.org. Also, the Community Planning Committee may soon be expanding and has potential openings. For more information about the committee and to download an application, see our Committees page. Applications are due Monday, June 23.
