Tutoring Support for Your Student
Is your student telling you that their classes are hard or that they're feeling overwhelmed? The Office of Writing and Learning Services (OWLS) offers free tutoring in a variety of subjects—math, writing, foreign languages, and more. OWLS tutors are Loyola undergraduates trained to help their peers understand and engage more deeply with their coursework. Sessions are one-on-one meetings and personalized to the student's particular needs. OWLS also offers general study skills tutoring for students wanting to develop better and more effective study habits. In-person sessions are held on campus in the OWLS center during the day, while virtual appointments are available in the evenings to accommodate students with busy daytime schedules. Learn more about OWLS.

Campus Move Out RemindersResidents are expected to check out 24 hours after their last exam; however, the move-out deadline for all non-graduating residents is Friday, May 12 by 5 p.m.
- Any resident who needs to stay past this time MUST request an extended stay. Residents remaining in the residence halls after this time who do not have an approved extension will be fined.
- Residents who are graduating can move out by 12 p.m. on Sunday, May 14 with an approved extension (students must submit their requests by April 26).
- Move-out extensions will only be granted through Monday, May 15. If your student needs to stay on campus beyond May 15, they must complete a summer housing application in The Housing Director platform (available in your student’s Single Sign On portal).
Donate or Store Items
- Don’t want your student to lug everything back home for the summer? Loyola partners with Attic Space to provide summer storage and moving services.
- We’ve partnered with Greening NOLA to create a more sustainable campus. Students can donate furniture and household items they don’t want during move out to be redistributed throughout the community. Res Life will share instructions at the end of the semester about this process.
- Students can donate unwanted non-perishable food, textbooks, and other essential items to Iggy’s Cupboard. Items can be dropped off at any time when the cupboard is open, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. during the week and 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on the weekends.

April Spiritual MessageEvery month, we share a reflection from Interim Vice President for Mission and Identity Tom Ryan, Ph.D.
Easter is no one-and-done holiday. You are receiving this newsletter in the second of Easter’s seven weeks. The Sunday readings for Catholic Masses over the course of these many weeks are marked by repetition as they communicate over and over the fruits of Easter. They speak of wonder, hope, peace, joy, and love as if to impress them on our hearts so that we can enact them in our lives. Yet, our lives are not always marked by such virtues and feelings, and Sunday Mass readings acknowledge this. They reference suffering and rejection. Thus, Sunday readings provision us for our journey into ordinary time as Easter recedes into memory. They acknowledge life’s hardships, yet they also invite us to be on the lookout for the extraordinary in the ordinary and so to grow in our ability to see that, as the Jesuit poet Gerard Manley Hopkins writes, “The world is charged with the grandeur of God.”
