Dear Loyola Community,
Today, we host our annual faculty/staff vs. student basketball game in The Den at 6 p.m. It’s a fun event that brings together our community in celebration of our Ignatian commitment to cura personalis or, in this instance, the goodness of the body and teamwork.
Here at Loyola, cura personalis is lived out in many ways. In sport, the community within and surrounding a team supports individual athletes.
This can be seen in competition. The team celebrates the great play of a teammate and is equally invested in encouraging athletes who may not be at their best. It can be seen in the work of the coaches and medical staff who care for and prepare our student athletes to be successful. It can be seen in our department and support staff who work with and promote our teams everyday.
But the support and care from our greater community is what impacts our students most. We are grateful for a community that encourages our student athletes outside of athletics. Professors, staff, administrators, and classmates are partners in their pursuit of excellence. And we also are grateful for our student staff who help run the University Sports Complex, so we can all be well and strive to be our best.
We look forward to seeing our community come together at the Loyola Week game this evening, and we can’t wait to welcome you to our athletic events in the future.
