TIPQC Annual Meeting 2014
The Annual Meeting brought together more than 325 physicians, nurses, hospital administrators, payors, families, and community groups on February 25 -26, 2014. The featured sessions highlighted maternal and child health issues, quality improvement projects, and noted national speaker and author of SWITCH: How to Change Things When Change is Hard, Dr. Chip Heath. The attendees were able to sharpen their improvement objectives and projects through collaborative sharing, benchmarking, and learning from national as well as state experts. Tennessee Commissioner of Health, Dr. John Dreyzehner, Dr. Haywood Brown from Duke University, Dr. Susan Landers, The American Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Section on Breastfeeding, Dr. Jonathan Davis from Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center and the Chairman of the National Institutes of Health Neonatal Advisory Committee for the FDA, Dr. Vaughn Frigon from TennCare, and Dr. Gautham Suresh from The Dartmouth Institute addressed improvement opportunities and efforts on a local, state, and national level. Project Workshops discussed current and ongoing challenges, best practices, successes, and allowed for collaboration.
