New Single Title Price Option Now Available
March 31, 2014
Dear Project MUSE-UPCC Publishers,
We are pleased to announce that a new single title pricing option, as announced in February, is now available.
Previously for all books in our single title sales program, MUSE has applied a multiplier of 2---i.e., 200% of the prices submitted by publishers---to arrive at the "library list prices" sent to YBP.  Publishers can now opt either to set their own prices or continue with the MUSE multiplier.
Please note:
  • This option applies to all books that a publisher has opted in to the single title sales program, both existing and prospective.

  • Publishers can set this option using their Pilot accounts. See instructions below.

  • Metadata submission procedures have not changed.
"Some UPCC participating publishers have asked to have more control over single title prices, and we are happy to offer an option that allows publishers to do just that," notes Terry Ehling, Project MUSE Associate Director. For example, some UPCC publishers are now applying their own multiplier or offering institutional pricing, which has resulted in unusually high prices submitted to YBP. This new option can also help publishers who want to offer the same prices in all their multi-user channels.
See below for instructions. Please contact us if you need a Pilot account or have any questions.
All best wishes,
Elizabeth W. Brown

Instructions for Managing Single Title Pricing Options
Publishers who want to continue to have MUSE apply the 200% multiplier to all of their single title book prices need do nothing.
Publishers who would like to set their own prices should login to the single title selection tool in their Pilot accounts, and select the new option.
We have added a section at the top of the single title selection tool where publishers can change their multiplier option.
You can output a list in Excel of all your titles in MUSE to see which ones are opted into the program. The Excel output now includes whether you have opted to set your own price or to have us apply the multiplier, plus the price submitted to MUSE and the price MUSE submits to YBP.
