Despite the stunningly beautiful weather here, September has been so depressing. My heart breaks for friends and family on the islands, in Florida, Texas, and Mexico. EVERYONE knows SOMEONE who has been affected by this string of unprecedented and unimaginable natural disasters. The good thing is that Americans are a generous lot and we’re all supporting funds for relief everywhere. What else can be done? It’s becoming increasingly difficult to listen to news or browse facebook (maybe a good thing!). We soldier on, and hopefully create some diversions to cheer you up. So, here’s what we’ve got for you this week: comfort food, gooey cheese, and fall deliciousness.

| Kudos to OSA, Middletown I’ve badgered chef Matt Wick about Osa’s imminent opening every time I’ve run into him for the last year or so. And his answer has always been, “soon!” Well soon finally arrived, and we sped up to Middletown to check out this new eatery under Krust’s umbrella.
One imagines that Matt has spent the time carefully considering the attributes of wild herbs, how to best preserve blueberries, and crafting artful combinations of unusual flavors. This guy’s ideas about local food, how it’s grown, prepared, and presented are serious...

| Bastien's Camembert on the Barbecue My ridiculously adorable young French cousin visited this summer, along with her equally adorable boyfriend. We had so much fun turning them on to typical New England fare like lobster rolls and S’mores (which so delighted them, we sent them home with the fixings…). In return, they shared their recipe for grilled camembert which they enjoy as...

| Apps We Actually Use Like most folks, my app attack is over; the days of clogging my phone and my time are done. These days I’m much pickier about them and try to keep it to those that I really use. Occasionally, I come across one that’s a life changer, so I thought...

New York Fashion Week Hair Trend: Cropped Top
The scissor-wielding team at Timothy Pamment Salon has just returned from styling top models and celebrities at New York Fashion Week, bringing the most sought-after trends to the Connecticut Shoreline. For Fall 2017, they’re going shorter, introducing a new crop that’s piecey, texturized, and oh-so-sexy. They like juxtapositioned textures: a slick root, tousled ends, and they’re playing with bangs. Think inspirational A-Listers like Katy Perry, Kristen Stewart, and Cara Delevigne. Looking to elevate your style? The Timothy Pamment Salon is your trusted beauty mecca.
