Dear Loyola Community,
As we settle into the groove of a new school year, I am filled with excitement and optimism for the journey ahead. The first few weeks are a time of renewed energy and new possibilities, a time to set goals and step outside our comfort zones.
While your time here at Loyola should be focused on your education, your experiences outside of the classroom also shape your character, broaden your horizons, and equip you for future success. One of the best ways to enhance your college career is by actively participating in our 100+ student organizations, deepening your faith through our spiritual offerings, or volunteering on campus or in our community.
Whether you’re passionate about the arts, community service, advocacy, sports, or professional development, you will find a welcoming community that shares your enthusiasm. I was thrilled to hear about the dozens of student events dedicated to music and culture, the nearly 2,000 hours of community services performed by fraternities and sororities each semester, and the $26,000 of donated food handed out by our Iggy's Cupboard volunteers.
Collectively, our campus offerings provide a platform to collaborate and make a meaningful impact. To learn more about how to get involved, check out our student engagement platform, HowlConnect, or download the mobile version, an app called Corq. You should also plan to attend the "Howl Fair" on Sept. 14 at 12:30 p.m.
Finally, to our faculty and staff advising these student organizations, thank you. I encourage others to follow your lead if they have the bandwidth to do so, and I recognize the commitment all of you have made to making a positive impact for our students. If you are interested in advising a student organization, please email Dale O’Neill.
I can't wait to see these organizations in action and to see all of you finding your place for personal growth, leadership development, and lifelong friendships.
Peace and blessings,
Dr. Xavier Cole
President
