Porch Chat with Jerit Tripp |
Jerit Tripp of Gilbert & Cook recently joined me on the Ruan Collaboration Deck, at the newly completed Community Foundation Campus, to talk about gifts of appreciated securities. In this short video, Jerit shares why a gift of stock can be a great way to give to causes your clients care about. He also provides reassurance that the last year and a half of rocky market conditions has not significantly affected the value of this giving strategy.

|
As we head into the summer months, it’s a good idea to touch base with your clients about their charitable giving budgets for 2023 and evaluate the types of assets that are best suited for each client to give to charity. In some cases, it will be best for your clients to give cash, but in others, stock is more appropriate.

- For clients whose portfolios are down significantly, this may be a year to consider contributing cash to a donor advised fund instead of donating highly-appreciated stock.

For nearly 20 years, the Endow Iowa Tax Credit has been a valuable tool to maximize your client’s support of the causes they care about. To keep the Endow Iowa Tax Credit working for Iowans, the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA), which oversees the Endow Iowa Tax Credit, announced changes to the program. One critical change is the discontinuation of the Endow Iowa Tax Credit waitlist on July 1, 2023. Learn more about what this means for your clients and contact us with questions.
