EGG DROP RETIRED FROM RACING
GRADE I WINNING STAR TO BE BRED TO TOP STALLION
LRF's Grade I winning superstar filly, Egg Drop, has been retired from racing due to a minor leg injury suffered in training. Egg Drop was preparing for a return trip to Keeneland this weekend when the injury was discovered  by assistant trainer Phil D'Amato. After consulting veterinarian Dr. Ryan Carpenter, the decision was made to retire the 5yo Alphabet Soup immediately. Egg Drop is currently in Kentucky and will be sold "in-foal" in November. "Egg Drop was a one-of-a-kind race horse," commented LRF Managing Partner, Billy Koch. "She had guts, determination, talent, and quite an attitude. She will always have a special place in our hearts." Special thanks to all of the LRF Egg Drop partners who rode the roller coaster ride with gusto. Thanks also to trainer Mike Mitchell, Phil D'Amato and their staff. We look forward to watching Egg Drop's next career as a mom.
Z MAN IS THE MAN
LRF/DERBY VEGAS TRIP
LRF's latest Barry Abrams partnership, Bobby Z Man, paid immediate dividends to his LRF Partners by winning his LRF debut on Friday, April 4 at Santa Anita. A 3yo California bred son of leading stallion Unusual Heat and a full brother to LRF stakes winner Lindz Winz, Bobby Z Man earned over $50,000 by winning the California bred maiden allowance race. Kudos to Abrams, who continues to bring LRF solid young horses with bright futures. Look for Bobby Z Man to run again in a starter allowance race at Santa Anita in mid-april.
Last year, LRF hosted fifteen partners in our second annual Las Vegas Kentucky Derby excursion. On the first weekend of May 2014, LRF will once again call Mandalay Bay home and you won't want to miss it. Not only will do have great reserved seats in the world renowned Mandalay Bay Sports Book, but we will also treat all partners to a dinner at Strip Steak after the Kentucky Oaks on Friday night. CALIFORNIA CROME A DERBY DREAM FOR "EX-PARTNERS"
Little Red Feather takes pride in helping to launch "the next owner".  We've often said, invest with LRF and learn the business before heading out on your own.  Steve Coburn and Perry Martin did just that - and more!  After buying a 5% share with another  California-based racing club, the two partners decided their investment wasn't over when their mare retired.  They bought her outright from the partnership, bred her to California stallion, Lucky Pulpit, and their first progeny is none other than 2014 Kentucky Derby favorite, California Crome.  When asked what was the first reaction to buying the retired racehorse, someone said, "Anybody who buys this horse is a dumb ass," recalls Martin.  "We shook hands and said we're the Dumb Ass Partners!"   California Crome will try to be become the 4th CA-Bred to win the Derby and the first since Decidedly in 1962.  From all of us here in California, good luck to California Crome and all the dreamers out there like Steve and Perry!
