GBHEM Welcomes 2017 Lina H. McCord Interns

The Lina H. McCord program welcomes eight students from United Methodist-related HBCUs to serve as its 2017 summer interns. The summer intern program is sponsored by the Black College Fund and GBHEM. read more 

GBHEM Issues Call for Papers at Colloquy

The academic theological colloquy will take place March 10-12, 2017, at the Candler School of Theology. The goal is to provide a comprehensive and constructive conversation to serve as a resource for the church. read more 

Resource for Colleges in Divided Times

GBHEM offers a new online resource for higher education administrators, chaplains and affiliated campus ministers to engage effectively with student efforts around serving as faithful public witnesses. read more 

Women of Color Scholarship Program

Dr. Kimberly Russaw is recognized as the 41st Women of Color graduate. Russaw received a Doctor of Philosophy in religion with a focus in Hebrew Bible and ancient Israel from Vanderbilt University in 2016. read more 

Young Clergy Initiative

The purpose of the Young Clergy Initiative (YCI) is to increase the number of young clergy in the UMC by supporting experiences that help youth and young adults discern their call to vocational ministry. Applications are open through March 15. read more 

GBHEM Expands Pastoral Education with New Course of Study Offerings

The Division of Ordained Ministry at GBHEM announced the establishment of three new options for the education of part-time licensed local pastors. read more 

GBHEM Begins 2017 with Updated Mission & Vision

GBHEM announces the launch of a new mission and vision. The updated statements simplify GBHEM’s role as the primary leadership development agency for The United Methodist Church. read more

Rebeck Elected Vice President of DOTAC

Rev. Victoria Rebeck, director of Deacon Ministry Development and Provisional Membership at GBHEM, was elected vice president of the Diakonia of the Americas and Caribbean (DOTAC). Her term will begin in July 2017. read more 

Students Gather Biennially to Imagine What's NEXT 

Every two years, college students, collegiate ministers, and church leaders gather for the Imagine What’s NEXT conference. Looking ahead, the NEXT movement is planning for events in Germany and Brazil. read more
