Kelly is creating a spreadsheet that will aid researchers in finding specific topics in the Bulletin, first published in 1919. Each year has twelve issues: one issue per month, with each issue varying in length from six to twelve or more pages each month.
Kelly analyzes each issue and places the information obtained on significant, industry and labor related topics into an excel spreadsheet. When asked about her task, Kelly responded, "This work interests me because it is history that occurred close to home. I enjoy learning about the history of Youngstown, and I believe there's no better way to learn than taking these documents and reading them which allows the reader to have an image of life when the issues were published." It is especially personal to Kelly, as " My great-grandfather worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tube and though I was not fortunate enough to meet him, when reading the YS&T Bulletins, I can imagine him telling me the same stories or information that I am reading."
This project is an important addition to having the YS&T Bulletins available on- line. Students, researchers, and the public can use this information to quickly access topics of interest within the newsletters without the need to read through every bulletin.
