All Higher Education Students, Faculty and Staff Now Eligible for COVID-19 Vaccinations

As of April 19, all New Jersey residents age 16 and over are now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. This includes all college students and higher education employees, including faculty and staff. With warmer weather upon us, we all want to spend more time with loved ones. One of the easiest and safest ways to enjoy the spring and summer is to be vaccinated so we can spend time with friends and family.

NJCU students and employees who have yet to be vaccinated are strongly encouraged to register. To assist NJCU employees with access to vaccinations, the University has partnered with the North Hudson Community Action Corporation (NHCAC) to administer COVID-19 vaccinations on behalf of our institution.
Students taking in-person classes during the Fall 2021 semester will be required to show proof of immunization.

Contributing to our partnership with NHCAC to administer vaccines will be students, faculty, and staff from NJCU’s nationally-ranked nursing program. Their willingness to join the frontline efforts to help our community prevail over this pandemic is inspiring to all of us. Our partnership with NHCAC will facilitate direct and priority access to vaccines to our entire campus community (as noted below). Of course, students and employees are encouraged to secure individual appointments for any vaccination available to them should another more convenient vaccine option be available. NJCU’s partnership with NHCAC is simply an additional option for us.

The two-dose Moderna COVID-19 vaccine will be administered at the locations, dates and times listed below. The second dose will be scheduled at the time of your first vaccine. If interested, please complete the COVID-19 vaccination interest form that is linked here. Within 24-hours, you will receive an email to your NJCU account with vaccination registration information and next steps.

With the vaccine becoming readily available to our NJCU community, we are one step closer to returning to pre-pandemic schedules.

Community COVID Testing To Be Held Friday, April 30 (12-4 p.m.)

NJCU, in a partnership between the New Jersey Department of Health and Clinical Staffing Solutions, will offer COVID-19 PCR testing to members of the local community on Friday, April 30 from noon to 4 p.m.

This testing event, as before, will be contactless and will employ a saliva collection and PCR test to determine infection with a rapid turn-around time; results are typically emailed by the next morning.

Testing will be available on the second floor of the Gilligan Student Union Building on campus. Free parking will be provided in the NJCU garage, located on Culver Avenue, between John F. Kennedy Blvd. and West Side Avenue.

This event is open to the public. Pre-registration is recommended by visiting COVID.VLT.CO. For all others, no appointment is necessary, and individuals will be offered a test on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please be prepared to present a copy of your insurance card at the testing site; those without insurance will still be offered a COVID-19 test.

Please make sure to follow proper social distancing and PPE protocols. Appropriate face masks are required to enter all NJCU campus facilities.

COVID-19 Surveillance Testing Appointments: April 29

Attention NJCU Community:
