New Docket Number Series Announced

Effective April 1, Order of Protection “OP” cases filed in Circuit Court will be assigned under a new Docket Number Series that will include an “X” rather than a “D” in the docket number, beginning with 14X1, 14X2, 14X3, etc. General Sessions-Civil will continue to use the OP Docket Number Series as the new X Docket Number Series will only affect Orders of Protection filed in Circuit Court.
The new X Docket Number Series was created to improve the immediate recognition of OP files and increase the efficiency in all aspects of processing protection documents.
CaseLink will not allow the public and attorneys access to OP files with an X docket number. However, government agencies who can currently view Sessions-Civil OP files will have access to Circuit’s X files.

Update on Order of Protection Letters

In collaboration with the judges, Circuit Court Clerk and Metro Police Department, the Circuit and Sessions-Civil Order of Protection Clerks will distribute letters from the Metro Police Department to respondents when an OP is granted.
The first letter will be given to the respondent with the granting of an OP in court. A follow-up letter will then be sent by mail seven days after the hearing to advise the respondent that the police department will be monitoring his/her compliance with the OP.
