Dear Loyola community,
Thanksgiving Blessings! I pray that our holiday will bring much joy to you and your family as you feast, celebrate, relax, and take stock of the blessings in your life.
Today I am grateful for time with family after meeting earlier this week with some Loyola alumni and friends in my home state of Texas. I am grateful for our faculty who devote their time and energy to educate our students and help them discover their vocations. I am grateful for our staff who are tirelessly dedicated to supporting our students and advancing our mission.
I am grateful for our alumni, donors, and trustees, whose support enables us to deliver the transformative education that develops the top talent for New Orleans and beyond. I am grateful for the parents and families who buoy up our students, encouraging them to persevere in their studies, especially when it’s hard. And, I am grateful for our students. You are the lifeblood of this institution – the reason we get up in the morning and our hope for the future.
Foundational to Ignatian spirituality is recognizing the gifts present in our day-to-day living as visible signs of God’s love and offering gratitude for our blessings. It is my hope that the remainder of the semester will afford you the opportunity to see many good gifts present for yourself in the Loyola community– helping you come to a deeper understanding of your being loved for just who you are.
Gratefully,
Justin Daffron, S.J.
Interim President
