Electronic Submission of Loan Files Begins as Pilot
U.S. Bank Home Mortgage Housing Finance Agency Division (formerly the U.S. Bank Home Mortgage – MRBP Division) is implementing a document imaging process that allows lenders to upload loan documents electronically. This process will reduce shipping costs and file review times, provide a record of submitted documents and speed up the exceptions process.
Lender onboarding will occur in stages. U.S. Bank HFA Division will contact you directly once it is ready to extend document imaging to your company. They anticipate that most Minnesota Housing participating lenders will submit electronically imaged files by spring 2015.
New for Start Up and MCC Borrowers!
Copies of affidavits now accepted: In anticipation of U.S. Bank HFA Division's document imaging, we reviewed our requirements for original documents. Effective today, we will accept a copy of a signed and notarized original Borrower Affidavit or Seller Affidavit in the Start Up or MCC loan file.  
Optional Income Tax Return Affidavit: If your Start Up or MCC borrower was not legally required to file a tax return in any of the three years prior to closing, you can include a signed and notarized affidavit in the borrower’s loan file. You may draft your own affidavit for the borrower to sign or use Minnesota Housing’s Income Tax Return Affidavit. Borrowers who were legally required to file federal income taxes but did not do so are ineligible for our Start Up and MCC mortgage loan programs.
Announcing New Assistant Commissioner for Single Family
Earlier this fall, Mike Haley, Assistant Commissioner in charge of the Single Family Division, announced his retirement from Minnesota Housing after 34 years of service.
Last week, Commissioner Mary Tingerthal announced that she is appointing Kasey Kier, current Manager of Single Family Operations, to succeed Mike upon his retirement in mid-December. Kasey has more than 20 years of experience at Minnesota Housing in both the Single Family and Multifamily Divisions, and is looking forward to the opportunities and challenges of her new position.
The following managers will continue to support our Single Family Division:
  • Kimberly Stuart is responsible for managing our home mortgage programs, including downpayment and closing cost assistance and the Mortgage Credit Certificate program. Overall business development efforts are also managed by Kim.  
  • Tal Anderson manages Single Family community development efforts, including the Community Homeownership Impact Fund, a number of programs supporting homeowner education and counseling, and other community support efforts. Tal also manages our Partner Solutions Team.
  • Gene Aho continues to manage Single Family property preservation and portfolio management efforts. This includes Fix Up home improvement loans and the Rehabilitation Loan Program.
  • We will be seeking a Manager of Single Family Operations to fill Kasey’s current position.
Important Rural Development (RD) Update
RD will not accept new Single-Family Housing Guaranteed loan applications from the close of business on November 21, 2014 through the start of business on December 1, 2014. 
RD reports they need this time to implement new regulation-related conversion requirements that will ultimately streamline processing.
