 Habitat For Humanity Hosts
Mardi Gras Jan. 31 - Feb. 1
Join in on the Franklin County Mardi Gras Festivities on Jan. 31-Feb. 1, 2014 as the Franklin County Habitat for Humanity hosts its annual Mardi Gras benefit celebration in Apalachicola. SGI Charity Chili Cookoff Feb. 28-March 1
Considered one of the area's largest annual events, St. George Island will host its annual Charity Chili Cookoff and Auction on March 1. The winner of the competition advances to the world championship and all proceeds benefit the Island Volunteer Fire Department and First Responder Unit. Activities include a golf tournament, 5K Red Pepper Run, Chili Cook-off, Auction and the naming of Miss Chili Pepper and Mr. Hot Sauce. Click here to learn more.

Ilse Newell Concert Series
An Ilse Newell concert is planned for February 23 featuring Trio Solis, a trio of piano, cello and violin. The concert will be held at Apalachicola's Trinity Episocopal Church at 4 pm. On March 16, the concert series will feature Joyce Guyer, Soprano & Bianca Lupshaw, Piano.
 
 

SGI Home Tour Feb. 8
The St. George Island Tour of Homes will be held February 8. Seven distinctive homes will be featured from 10-4p.m. Also included on the tour are the Cape St. George Lighthouse and Keeper’s House, and the St. George Plantation Clubhouse. Click here to watch a video of the tour event. Tour weekend will begin with a kick-off event on Friday, Feb. 7, with a talk  by Dr. James L. Hargrove, author and retired University of Georgia professor, who will speak about the early development of St. George Island. Hargrove is the author of “The Oyster King” which tells the fictionalized story of William Lee Popham, the first man to attempt the development of St. George Island in the 1920’s.  The event is sponsored by the St. George Lighthouse Association.  Click here to learn more.

St. George Island To Host Snowbird Day Feb. 4
Winter visitors to St George Island can look forward to some special treatment when the Island hosts its third SGI Snowbird Day on Tuesday, February 4, 2014. Events will include a lighthouse climb, state park entry and hike,  bingo, and dinner. Click here to learn more. 

Panhandle Players Perform Kitchen Witches 
The Panhandle Players will perform the Comedy Play "Kitchen Witches" on Feb. 7-9 at the Eastpoint Firehouse. Click here to watch the event video. A second performance of the play will run Feb. 14-16 at Apalachicola's Trinity Church Benedict Hall.
