Dear Members of the NJCU Community:

New Jersey City University is committed to preserving and maintaining the health and safety of all members of its community. To date, there are no confirmed cases of the coronavirus on campus, in the local Jersey City area, or in the state of New Jersey. The University continues to monitor closely the coronavirus outbreak and is following guidelines released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the New Jersey Department of Health.
The University's Crisis Leadership Team put in place a pandemic plan designed to address occurrences such as this while ensuring business continuty in the University's programs and operations.
The CDC considers the risk to the American public to be low, although much about this new virus remains unknown.

NJCU faculty and staff experiencing flu-like symptoms should call their primary care physician.  Students should contact the NJCU Health and Wellness Center at 201-200-3456.

NJCU is increasing awareness across campus regarding proper hygiene and our Facilities and Housekeeping staff are working diligently in ensuring access to alcohol-based hand sanitizers throughout campus along with disinfecting common areas as recommended by the CDC.
In addition, the Hudson Regional Health Commission will offer a presentation on the “2019 Novel Coronavirus Update and How You Can Prevent the Spread of Disease” on Friday, March 13, 10-11 a.m. in the Gilligan Student Union, Multipurpose Room A.

The best way to limit the spread of viruses is through best practices including covering your mouth when coughing; covering your nose when sneezing; washing your hands frequently; avoiding touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands; avoiding close contact with people who are sick; staying home if you are sick; and sanitizing and disinfecting frequently touched areas.

For the latest information and updates regarding this evolving situation, visit the Health and Wellness Center website for coronavirus updates.
