World Donkey Day - Thursday, 8 May
May is a very special month for the donkeys at Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary... It is World Donkey Day on Thursday, 8 May.
This lovely spacious home for retired donkeys takes care of once abused or neglected animals. Often donkey's work hard as beasts of burden all their lives and then when they are no longer strong and fit enough, they are sadly neglected.
This sanctuary offers them the correct food and veterinary care and a peaceful and tranquil space in which to live out their last years. The sanctuary relies on donations to care for these gentle animals.
This month they are hosting a gala dinner at Kelvin Grove with David Kramer providing the entertainment on Wednesday, 14 May. David Kramer is the patron of the sanctuary.
If you can't attend that, then drive out to MacGregor on the weekend of 23,24 and 25 May to attend the big book fair. Lots of bargains to be found... New and second hand books to browse through and a lovely coffee shop to enjoy. All proceeds go to help the donkeys!
For more information on how to "Adopt a donkey" or how to make the sanctuary a beneficiary on your "Myschool" card see their
