Good friends are like stars...
you don't always see them, but you know they are always there.

Keep Talking!
Did you know that YOU are our biggest referral source? Keep talking about The Christi Center!
Most grieving people who come to us have found The Christi Center because someone they know told them about us.  We asked our Facebook friends what they usually tell people about the Center – here’s just a few responses:
  • A wonderful place to receive the help that can fulfill the emptiness of feeling alone, by allowing to open up and meet people that are going through the same things.
  • How much I have benefited from The Christi Center.  I would have been lost without them.
  • I never imagined where the grief journey would take me, or where it will continue to take me. I do know that I am not alone on my journey, and I am forever thankful for those at The Christi Center.
  •  I can go there and be the new me.  A very warm, friendly, safe place – where others know what I am feeling.
  • A life saving organization for those experiencing the loss of a loved one in their lives. Wonderful people!
What do you tell people about the Center?  Join our Facebook page  and join the conversation – and keep telling everyone you know about us.  Your heart connections are what keep our network of support strong and growing – thank you!

Fast Pitch
On October 10th at 6:30 pm we need your help again!
We have been selected as semi-finalists to participate in the Chisholm Trail Community Foundation Fast Pitch contest at Georgetown First United Methodist Church.  We are in contention for the People’s Choice Award ($4,000) and we have 90 seconds to pitch our story.  Because everyone in the audience gets a vote (and because our story involves YOU), we need anyone who is able to join us for this event to please come! We know that’s a trip for some of you, but we need as many people as we can to show up and support us. Please RSVP to cara@christicenter.org and we will  fill you in on how you can be a part of our pitch (hint: you don’t have to say anything, it just involves wearing zebra items).  There are also groups heading to dinner before/after the event, so it will be a fun social evening – we hope you can join us!

Fall Volunteer Opportunities
That crisp air, those slightly cooler temperatures...fall is here! The start of a new season means new volunteer opportunities -  we have several available and could use a few good friends:
Friday, October 18th 8-noon --
A Heart Day's Work
We will be having a work day to spruce up the Healing Garden, repaint the front doors, stuff some envelopes, and do some general cleaning around the center. We have a service group coming, and it would be great to have a few friends to help show them the ropes.
Saturday, October 19th, 9:30 am-1 pm -- Memorial Tree Grove Dedication
This year, 28 families will be dedicating a tree to a loved one, and we will be dedicating our 19th Memorial Tree Grove at Old Settler's Park in Round Rock. Volunteers will help welcome guests, decorate, and maintain the refreshments. Love to help but can't make it? We can also use donations of water, soda and/or cookies!
Interested in one of these dates, or just want to join our volunteer list to keep up with all the opportunities? Email Lara George at lara@christicenter.org

I Live Here, I give Here's Big Give
The Big Give
Remember when we asked you to vote for us a few weeks ago?  A big THANK YOU to all who voted - we were selected as one of two semi-finalists for the Little Prize in THE BIG GIVE!  There were many, many deserving nonprofits across the city that competed in this effort and we were honored to be included among the top two.  Thank you for voting and telling why you love The Christi Center!
A Big "Thank You" to our August Donors!
