Family & Friends

Let me be the first to tell you my exciting news!  This afternoon I filed as a candidate for the 23rd District in the Kansas House of Representatives. This seat is currently held by Kelly Meigs, who has indicated to many that she intended not to run. However, when she supported the embarrassing discrimination bill, the unconstitutional education bill, and filed for re-election, that was the last straw. It’s time to ‘Clean Up the Capitol,’ and I hope I can count on your support!

Education

The primary issue that feeds our communities, our economy and inevitably our future is public education, and it should be supported – not destroyed by the very people elected to protect it. Moreover, the teachers who care for our children in elementary school, deal with them in middle school, and launch them in high school should be respected and treated with gratitude, not disparaged.

Essential Services

Next, the Kansas Legislature must be ready to fund the essential services Kansans should expect from our tax dollars: good quality schools, access to good quality health care, safe roads and low crime. These things cannot – and should not – be handled solely by Topeka, but in cooperation with our cities and counties. We need people in Topeka who support local control in word AND vote. Local governments have never been more under siege from Topeka than since my opponent was elected in 2010.

Embarrassment

You’ve heard it from friends and family across the country and indeed, the globe. Whether it’s legalized discrimination, open and concealed carry of guns, climate change denial, spanking, or the dozens of attempts to repeal Federal Health Reform, my opponent has been in the middle of all of it, following her extremist brethren like a sheep. As a 5th generation Kansan, I am tired of them making a mockery of our proud state.

To Clean Up the Capitol, I’ll need your help. First-time campaigns are usually funded by “love money” from friends and family. Campaigns are expensive, as I have learned very quickly – a website and yard signs and Mike is already giving me “the look.”

We are committing our own money – and a lot of sweat equity – to the effort. I intend to conduct a door-to-door campaign, meet with community leaders and be active with mailings, yard signs and technology.

I would be grateful for your donations of time and resources. Click here to donate, volunteer, or host a yard sign or meet-and-greet event. I need to raise $20,000, so every $50 helps! I can accept up to $500 per individual or company, but fundraising from lobbyists is not allowed until May 30.

With gratitude,

Linda Gallagher
Candidate, Kansas House District 23

PS:  I would be very grateful for your financial support for this campaign. With your help, I can win this election. Checks can be mailed to Gallagher for Kansas, 7804 Monrovia, Lenexa, 66216. My PayPal account will be up soon. Thank you.
