General Counsel Smith Retires, New General Counsel Announced |
Pat Smith, general counsel, is retiring at the end of December 2024. Smith has spent 25 years providing legal advice and support for GVSU. Jessica Karbowski Weare, who most recently served for the State of Michigan, began her tenure as general counsel October 28.

GVSU Junior Wins Gold at World Championships for Wrestling |
Sage Mortimer won the gold medal in the 50kg weight class at the Under-23 World Championships in Tirana, Albania this October. Mortimer is a member of Grand Valley's first women's wrestling team. Mortimer will continue her wrestling career for the start of wrestling season at GVSU.

Grand Valley State announced the addition of eight new members to the Athletics Hall of Fame. They will will be inducted on Friday, November, 1 2024 at the Raleigh J. Finkelstein Athletic Village.

The GVSU community is rallying around the Replenish Student Food Resource Fund, which provides food and household items, infant and child necessities, and school supplies to learners in need.
As part of Giving Tuesday efforts, the GVSU community is invited to participate in our Campus Food Drive from November 1-December 6. Non-perishable food donations will go directly to the Replenish Basic Needs Center, our campus food pantry.

Veterans Day with Lisa Jaster |
Join us as we celebrate Veterans Day with Lieutenant Colonel Lisa Jaster, November 11, 6 p.m. Lieutenant Colonel Jaster will discuss her book, Delete the Adjective, about her experiences being the first woman Army reservist to complete and graduate from the elite United States Army Ranger School.
The Hauenstein Center is excited to offer this event in partnership with the Office of the President, Peter Secchia Military and Veteran Resource Center, Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library & Museum, and Armed Forces Thanksgiving.
