GVSU Board elects Elizabeth Emmitt of Corewell Health as chair of Grand Valley’s Board of Trustees, while honoring Susan Jandernoa at end of her 2-year term.

Grand Valley’s Board of Trustees approved a $402 million budget at their annual meeting in July. The budget includes a $4.2 million increase to financial aid and a $5.9 million purchase of the remaining portion of the Bicycle Factory.

The GVSU Police Academy celebrated its 53rd graduating class of the Basic Police Academy Program on August 8, while also commemorating its 50th anniversary. Since 1974, the academy has been recognized as one of the premiere education centers for future law enforcement officers. 

GVSU joins a list of 745 ranked public and private schools nationwide that were named after an analysis of institutions providing applicants the best value for their money. The analysis focused on above-average graduation rates while scoring in three key areas: quality, affordability and future earning potential.

GVSU's family weekend is from September 20-22. This weekend is filled with fun activities for all ages, events, and the annual Family Day football game. 

Laker Con is a three-day comics convention held at the Mary Idema Pew Library. This year's Laker Con will be from September 27-29.

The Grand Valley Shakespeare Festival revisits the classic tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. From October 4 to October 13, GVSU students will be performing at the Louis Armstrong Theatre.

Homecoming offers something for Lakers of all ages. Join GVSU Lakers for a weekend of celebration, October 28 through November 3, with events including Alumni Celebrations, the Class of 1974 golden reunion, Then & Now Campus Tours, and the GVSU Football game vs Wayne State.

GVNext is a bi-monthly electronic publication (monthly during spring/summer semester) of GVSU's University Communications. The publication includes an "In Memoriam" section for late retirees and employees.
