We're doing it again next year! The math department will host events every Friday at 1 pm in the PCS (MAK A-2-610).
When scheduling your classes, look out for Fridays at 1 and keep that spot open. We would love to see you next fall!

MTH 498 Final Presentations
Wednesday April 22, 3 - 4:15 pm, in the PCS.
Hear about the projects that MTH 498: Project-Based Applied Mathematics capstone students have been working on this semester. They will present on joint work with community partners: the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy, Hope Network, and Hope Network Industries.

Math & Stats Bowling party!
Friday April 24, 3 - 5 pm at Clique Lanes in Grand Rapids.
Join us to celebrate graduating seniors and share time with friends (and bowl, too). Everyone is welcome!
Cost: $5 students, and $10 professors. Venmo payments to @Lora-Bailey4 or bring cash to the math office.
All math and stats majors, minors, and faculty are welcome. (If you're reading this email, that means you!)

Education and outreach opportunities |

new! 1-credit mindfulness class for education majors Fall 26: There is a special section of IDS 105: Mindfulness as a College Success Tool being offered for all education majors (IDS 105-Section 06) for 1 credit, first 8 weeks of fall. You will explore the science of mindful meditation and learn several different practices. We will also discuss how to incorporate mindfulness into your own classrooms to reduce student stress and improve the learning environment.
- MI Future Educator Stipend. Applications are now open for this $9,600 one-time stipend is for students in their student teaching ("internship") semester.

MI Future Educator Fellowship. Applications are now open for a $10,000 scholarship for future educators, renewable for up to three years. There is a commitment to teach in a Michigan school as part of the fellowship.

new! MAA Mathfest Student Scholars Travel Grants: MAA Mathfest is a national summer conference for mathematicians from around the world on August 5 - 8. It's a great place to present your work! Check out this travel grant for students to help you get there. You can get a free MAA membership through the GVSU math department. Due May 31.
- new! Fellowships for STEM Majors: Check out this list of fellowships -- funded programs for studying, research, and more -- offered to GVSU students. Check them out now; deadlines are throughout the year.
- new! International Undergraduate Research opportunities: Check out this page for information about study-abroad, online, and other opportunities to do research internationally.
