See you at Crufts!
It's that time of year again! After two harrowing ice storms here in Atlanta, the sun is finally peeking through the clouds, and the warm weather is slowly making its way back.

I'll be heading to Crufts later this week, and I'm always thrilled to be a part of this fun and exciting dog show and pet expo.

Come find me at my booth--I'll be at Booth #45 in Hall 3 all four days of the show. I'm looking forward to talking with fans and answering questions, and will also have some fantastic apparel and training products available for purchase.

Crufts is the dog show of all dog shows. Every year I go it seems to get better and better. You could spend all day at Crufts and not see a single dog being shown--there are so many incredible demonstrations and trade stands. It is pure heaven for dog owners and dog lovers.

I hope to see you at Crufts--you don't want to miss it!

Victoria's Signature
Loose Leash Walking Seminar
Do you have a dog that pulls on the leash? It's a common problem facing dog owners today. Two Victoria Stilwell Positively Dog Trainers (VSPDTs)--Dale Ward and Daniela Cardillo--have teamed up to offer a loose-leash walking course for both dog trainers and dog owners.

Learn how to teach your dog how to walk politely on leash! NO MORE PULLING! The skills you will learn in this two day course are based on behavior science and are force-free. No chokers, no prong collars, no aversive methods whatsoever. Your dog will learn to walk with you because s/he wants to walk with you.

This 2 day intensive workshop will give you the tools and techniques you and your dog need to master loose leash walking.

Teach a Puppy to Sit

Teaching a dog to "sit" may seem simple, but many dogs and their owners struggle with this cue. When teaching the sit cue correctly, you should never have to force or intimidate your dog. This Teacher's Pet video will show you how to teach your puppy how to sit quickly, effectively, and humanely.

Breeder On Designer Dog Craze
In an interview that sounded eerily like the story of Victor Frankenstein, the creator of the Labradoodle expressed deep regret in creating the breed, the original "designer dog" that started the modern day trend.

Wally Conron developed the Labradoodle when he was working for the Royal Guide Dog Association of Australia. He needed to develop a service dog with the appropriate temperament as well as one that would not trigger a reaction in people who were allergic to dogs. And there, the Labradoodle was carefully created.

Now, Conron sees the damaging effects of the craze for the breed he created. Today's mixed breed designer dogs are not always created with the same careful breeding in mind, as many backyard breeders and puppy mills take advantage of people's desire for the breed, cutting corners and focusing more on profit and less on improving the health and temperament of the dogs they create.
Featured Positively Blog Post
Check out the fantastic inaugural post from award-winning pet journalist Maggie Marton. In her first post for the Positively Expert Blog, Maggie talks about the importance of clear communication with our dogs.

"As a writer, I strive to find the perfect word to communicate exactly what I want to say. Someone can trip, tumble, or slip, and even though those words mean that the person fell, they convey that idea differently.

There’s a huge amount of variation between whispering, shouting, singing, screeching, or simply saying, even though all those words mean that someone is vocalizing.

English is a finicky language, and it’s full of variations and synonyms that allow us to put an artistic flourish on our stories. Your boss didn’t tell you she wanted cream in her coffee; she demanded that you put cream in her coffee..."

Shelter Dog Spotlight
Marley is an 8-year-old Retriever mix who was surrendered to the SPCA of Central Florida by his owner, and who has been waiting for a home at the shelter for a long time.

This sweet boy is good with people and other dogs and is very eager to please. The shelter staff has taught him all kinds of basic cues, and he loves to work for food. Victoria was extremely impressed by his calm, confident demeanor despite having lived in a shelter environment for such a long time.

Marley is available for adoption and is waiting to meet you at the SPCA of Central Florida in Orlando. He is getting wonderful love and care by the staff at the shelter, but it's time for him to find his forever home."
