In Honor of Sunshine...

Sara Dodder Furr, a long time MilkWoman, passed away in late December. Her loss will be felt deeply, not only by her family, but by her large extended community family in Lincoln and around the country. Sara’s children summed up one of her most endearing legacies: she loved and accepted all of us unconditionally.
Unconditional acceptance and loss are part and parcel of life, which is especially true for women embarking upon motherhood. We have long known that mothers who feel loved and supported are better prepared to mother their children. I first met Sara one evening over 20 years ago when she called me seeking the services of a doula. My memories of our conversation centered around birth expectations and support. Sara knew in her heart that to care for her children, she needed to feel cared for herself...

Breast Pump & Baby Weigh Station in North Lincoln
Family Service WIC in Lincoln is partnering with MilkWorks to provide a monthly Breast Pump & Baby Weigh Station in North Lincoln. Drop in to obtain your breast pump or weigh your baby on a hospital grade scale. No appointment is necessary!
Our next Breast Pump & Baby Weigh Station is February 8, 2018 9am-4pm at Lincoln Christian Fellowship Church {100 West Fletcher Ave, Lincoln NE}.

MilkWorks is proud to partner with Good Life Birth Place to provide our All About Breastfeeding class as part of their prenatal support. Good Life Birth Place opened in Lincoln in the fall of 2017. Their Midwifery Model of Care emphasizes individualized education, counseling and prenatal care. Many mothers wonder what to do if they get a cold or flu. Is it okay to continue breastfeeding? YES! Is it okay for your baby to breastfeed if your baby is sick? YES! Read more about Treating a Cold or Flu While Breastfeeding here
Please note that 
MilkWorks is a well facility. You do not have to worry about you or your baby encountering illnesses while onsite. For everyone's protection, if you or your baby or child are sick with a cold or the flu, we ask that you wait until you are well to come to MilkWorks. In the meantime, please call and we will assist you by phone!
Classes
All About Breastfeeding: Take this class in the second half of your pregnancy to get ready for that first feed! Bring a support person (partner, mother, sister, friend) with you! The fee is $25. Please note: this class may be covered by your private insurance plan.
Lincoln: Tuesdays, January 9 & 16 and February 6 & 13, 6-8pm (2-part class) OR Saturday, January 6 and February 24 10am-3pm 
Omaha: Saturday, January 13 or February 3, 10am-3pm
Return to Work: Perfect for moms heading back to the workforce while breastfeeding! Join us while pregnant, or when you are on your maternity leave! The fee is $15. Please note: this class is included with our Pump Service Plan , which is provided with all breast pumps obtained at MilkWorks.
Lincoln: Tuesday, February 20, 6-8pm
Omaha: Tuesday, January 9 or 23, 6-8pm
Introducing Solids: Taught by a registered dietitian, this is an ideal class to attend when your baby is three to six months old! The fee is $15. Please note: this class is FREE for mothers who receive consultation services at MilkWorks.
Lincoln ONLY: Wednesday, January 31, 6-8pm
Breastfeeding & Babywearing: This class provides guidance on the many different ways to combine breastfeeding and babywearing! Please bring your baby and any personal carriers for hands on help. Demo carriers will be available. This class is offered free of charge. 
Omaha ONLY: Saturday, January 20, 1-3pm

IBCLC Consultations
Our Lactation Consultants work individually with moms & babies who are experiencing issues with latch, milk removal or supply, weight gain or any other breastfeeding concerns. Call us for an appointment!
Breast Pumps
MilkWorks is in-network with all major private insurance & all NE Medicaid plans for breast pumps. We proudly carry high quality Medela & Spectra pumps and provide our Pump Service Plan. No appointment is needed.
Baby Weigh Station
Our drop in Weigh Station is open 6 days a week! Stop by for a FREE weight check on a hospital grade scale. We will gladly fax an update to baby's healthcare provider upon request.
