Jolt Energy Technologies receives $200,000 from SBIR

Jolt Energy Technologies, LLC received a $200,000 Phase I Small Business Innovation and Research (SBIR) grant from the Department of Energy. This grant will help the company to develop an all-organic battery along with associated controls to efficiently store energy from a solar array.

Accelerate Michigan Innovation Competition calls for startup applications

The Accelerate Michigan Innovation Competition application for startups is now open. Startups are encouraged to register to compete by August 16th and submit their applications by August 31st. This pitch competition offers entrepreneurs the chance to showcase their companies to investors and build connections with business acceleration resources and experts in their industry.

Free workshops for entrepreneurs at Herrick District Library

Groundworks is a new collaborative space at Herrick District Library where free workshops will be held monthly to introduce adults to various topics such as graphic design, starting a podcast, coding, starting a company and more. The public will also be able to use the space's equipment and computer software programs during open hours. Attend the upcoming open house on August 19th to learn more.

Military-connected entrepreneurs invited to apply for MVE-Lab's fall cohort

The Michigan Veteran Entrepreneur-Lab (MVE-Lab) offers military-connected people the opportunity to pursue a startup idea through participation in their fall cohort. This program provides its participants with training, tools, mentoring and funding to develop their business and launch it over a 3 month period.

SURGE Startup Spotlight: G3 Acoustics LLC

G3 Acoustics LLC successfully launched its massage and heat features in the luxury seats at Sperry's Moviehouse in downtown Holland. G3 Acoustics LLC partnered with First-Class Seating company to produce these seats in time for the opening of the theater on June 13th.
