2014 Difference Makers website live

They’re already writers, engineers, humanitarians, educators, entrepreneurs and globetrotters. And they have even bigger plans for their future. Fifty new University of Michigan-Dearborn students were selected and announced in March as 2014 Difference Makers and their stories now are live on the Difference Makers website.

Honoring campus and community leaders

University of Michigan-Dearborn’s Commission for Women will honor Grace Lee Boggs, Gloria House and Ghassan Kridli during the organization’s annual Susan B. Anthony Awards Dinner Thursday, April 10. Boggs will receive the community award and House and Kridli will receive campus awards.

Elliott Initiative Business Pitch Competition

Making the pitch

Student entrepreneurs’ passions were on display as they pitched their best business ideas during the Elliott Initiative Pitch Competition last Wednesday. The top prize went to the Veterans Refuge Network, which hopes to provide a place for counseling and treatment for veterans coming home from active duty.

More than an alma mater

More than 150 UM-Dearborn alumni work at their alma mater as faculty and staff. Learn how many—including Mark Steffka and Lavada Smith—are recognizing the significance of a UM-Dearborn degree through this year's Faculty and Staff Campaign, which runs through April 16.

News from the Office of Metropolitan Impact

UM-Dearborn is in the process of applying for Carnegie Community Engagement Elective Classification to further demonstrate the campus' commitment to southeast Michigan.
