Tevye's bed from Fiddler on the Roof
Win Tevye's Bed!
Once upon a time there was a beautiful birch tree growing in a yard. Then the February ice storm came and the tree fell down. The tree happened to be in the yard of Fiddler on the Roof set designer Alan Beck, who thought the tree might provide the perfect rustic bed frame for Tevye and Golde.
Once the show closes, we'll no longer need the bed — so we are raffling off the custom headboard and footboard on April 28 to one lucky winner. The headboard and footboard will fit any standard double bed. Raffle tickets are just $5 and are being sold at each intermission of Fiddler on the Roof, or during our weekday box office hours of Wednesday – Friday, 10 am to 2 pm.

Congratulations, Carmen!
On Thursday, April 10th, long-time CT volunteer Carmen Dowell was named the United Way of Lane County's Arts & Culture Volunteer of the Year, in recognition of her many contributions to Cottage Theatre. Carmen is the Props Coordinator for CT, she has stage managed several shows, and also has appeared on our stage numerous times. (You may remember her as the woman hopping around in one ice skate in Almost, Maine earlier this season.) Carmen also volunteers with Special Olympics and has helped some of her friends from that program get involved at Cottage Theatre.
Cottage Theatre Executive Director Susan Goes comments that "Carmen is the type of person who naturally gives herself to others – and she does so with a broad smile on her face. If someone needs something, it’s not uncommon to see Carmen on the scene in a very short time. She puts others at ease, she has a positive “can do” attitude no matter what problem needs to be overcome, and her cheerfulness is contagious."
Thanks to Carmen's award, Cottage Theatre is the grateful recipient of an unexpected $500 grant from the Community Leaders Together program of the Eugene Register Guard.
We are also proud to report that two of the other seven volunteers honored by the United Way of Lane County this year also have Cottage Theatre connections: Chris Ferguson, honored for his work in Education, has performed on our stage several times, and Tom English, honored in the "Civic and Community" category, is a long-time Cottage Theatre subscriber. We thank and congratulate all of these wonderful volunteers!

Fiddler on the Roof photos
Fiddler on the Roof continues for two more weekends — but, yes, it is still completely sold out. (Sorry!) For those of you who already have tickets for one of our remaining performances: we look forward to welcoming you to our audience very soon. For those of you who cannot get seats: here are a few photos from the production. (Trying singing "If I were a rich man" as you view the photos — singing that song can't help but bring a smile to your face!) View a slideshow of all show photos by photographer Matt Emrich.
On stage next:
Moon Over Buffalo
A madcap backstage comedy by Ken Ludwig
June 13 - 29
Tickets go on sale May 13
Please order early for best seat selection!
This hilarious play is centered around some fading 1950s actors, who are playing Cyrano de Bergerac and Private Lives in repertory and hoping for their big break when Frank Capra comes to see their matinee.
