Dear OUWB Faculty Members,

With the input of many stakeholders, the Department of Faculty Affairs is upgrading the Meaningful Participation Program (MPP) with streamlined activities for an improved user experience. The upgrades will occur in phases and will launch with a comprehensive update of the MPP activity and credit lists.

Immediate Improvements

On Friday, December 15, the activity and credit changes will be implemented in the current MPP system. Note, the MPP system will not be available during this update. You will receive an email notification when the update is complete.

Any previously approved credits will remain in your MPP account and the new listing will be used to determine the credit value per activity. To view and download a chart of the updated MPP credits, click here.

Future Improvements

In the spring of 2024, MPP will be integrated into OUWB’s faculty data tracking system, SmartPath™. The SmartPath™ system is used to facilitate the faculty lifecycle, including but not limited to documents required for appointments, reappointments, promotions, and curriculum vitae development and maintenance.

The Meaningful Participation Program was developed so that faculty members have an opportunity to maintain their faculty appointment status with Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. Faculty members must maintain three professional development credits and nine service credits during their three-year term. The tracking tool is used as a mechanism to encourage participation and document the credits.
