Meet New YL Leader, Rebecca Mbwilo

My name is Rebecca Mbwilo and I just recently became a Young Life leader at Brier-Terrace Middle School.  I have never previously been involved in Young Life and had only really heard the name not knowing what it was all about. I grew up going to my church’s youth group and after I graduated from college I helped out as a volunteer leader at that same youth group. Once I got married and moved to the Seattle area I did not become involved in helping with a youth group but became involved helping out in my current church’s children’s ministry.

There are several people that attend my current church that are involved in Young Life and I’ve especially learned so much from one of my closest friends. She grew up going to Young Life in high school and this led her to want to pursue a life with Jesus even though she did not grow up in a family that went to church or pursued knowing more about Jesus. I have been truly blessed to have this very close friend! She is currently a YL leader and invited me to take a look at volunteering at YL also. After seeing what Young Life has been for her in her own life, learning more about the organization and lots of prayer (my own and also all the people that were praying for me) I know God has asked me to volunteer to be a Young Life leader. I am excited to see God work in kids lives as well as work on my own life through helping youth get to know Jesus!
Snapshots of Young Life

Rachel Magnenat is an Lynnwood Young Life alum. Her YWAM (Youth with a Mission) team was doing street evangelism in the town of Jinja, Uganda. She came across Miriam who was wearing a Young Life t-shirt.  It turns out Miriam is in charge of the Young Life at the high school in Jinga.  What an encouragement for Rachel and all of us who know and love her that the Lord set up this divine appointment so far from home.

On February 16, one of our current Young Life students, Fynist Rollins, from Lynnwood High School, got baptized by his pastor, Dale Braswell at Life Point Church in Lynnwood, a place he now considers his church home. We are grateful for churches like Life Point who welcomes these teenagers from YL who are new in their faith and eager to grow in their relationship with Jesus. What a joy to celebrate with Fynist and his church family on this special day.
Prayer Breakfast

The 4th Annual Western Washington Young Life Prayer Breakfast is Thursday, April 7, 7am-10:30am.  Our speaker this year will be Cynthia Breilh, Executive Director for World Vision's National Leadership Council.  The prayer breakfast ends at 9am, but there are two optional seminars afterwards.  Last year's seminars were phenomenal and we expect them to be this year as well. Would you be interested in attending ($55/per person) or sponsoring a table ($500)? Sponsors will get mentioned on the podium, listed on the program, website and with a table sign.  If we have a sponsored table for Lynnwood Terrace Young Life we would be able to bless some local pastors and youth pastors and maybe a few others with a free ticket to the event.

If you know someone who should attend or if you are interested, please email Phoebe@LynnwoodTerrace.YoungLife.org.

Husband and wife, MTHS leaders, Chad and Lauren play the roles of Harry and Sally at MTHS club to help prepare the kids for summer camp.
