Zebras Show Their Stripes for The Christi Center

On October 10th, over 50 friends with strong heart connections to The Christi Center cleared their calendars and donned their zebra stripes. Why?  To vote in The Chisholm Trail Community Foundation's Fast Pitch competition--and to help tell The Christi Center's story.  The Christi Center was awarded the $4000 People's Choice Award  to support  our  "heart work".  Thank you, zebras!  PS If you haven't heard our zebra story yet, read it here!
Wanted: Christi Center Ambassadors

Do you have a special heart connection to The Christi Center?  Would you be willing to help us find others who might, too?  We’re looking to grow our list of volunteers and supporters to help get the word out about The Christi Center's free grief support services. If you think you could help us by introducing one new person a month to us by bringing them on a tour of the Center, to a Christi Center event, or introducing them to our founders or staff, please email Cara Fox or call us at  512-467-2600 to learn more about this special volunteer opportunity.
Helping Veterans in Our Community
Earlier this month during Mental Health Awareness Week, The Veterans Administration Clinic had a Mental Health Fair at their new facility on Metropolis Dr. Cathy Collins, our Senior Intake Specialist and Crime Victim Advocate, faciliatates a weekly grief group with veterans and was asked to present information on The Christi Center to veterans and their families. Several members from the Crime Victims group joined Cathy.  If you know a veteran who might be interested in learning about the group (grief does not neccessarily need to be combat-related), please contact Cathy.

Families release a balloon in memory of their loved ones
XIX Memorial Tree Grove Dedication

On a bright, chilly and windy October 19th, 28 families each dedicated a tree to a loved one at our 19th Memorial Tree Grove in Old Setller's Park, Round Rock.  Each family had a unique reason why planting a tree was meaningful to them. One family said,

"Our daughter Jennifer Lynn Greybeck, born October 14, 1978, left us March 21, 2012, due to diabetes. Jennifer had an unmatched passion for the game of soccer. She was an awesome goal keeper and soccer player. All four years at PHS she lettered in four sports and was the only girl goal keeper to this day to make All State goal keeper. She played at Settlers Park throughout her time here, always giving 100%. She had a contagious smile and would ALWAYS give to others before thinking of herself. She would always be there for others whenever they needed her to play or just needed some assistance in some way. She would coach others and volunteered herself free of charge in goal keeping and soccer skills just to help others in whatever way she could. We feel God has called her home to help coach the angels. She is deeply loved and missed. A tree would resemble her as a person, STRONG, BEAUTIFUL, AND ALWAYS TRYING TO GROW OTHERS. She loved playing soccer at Setters Park and she would love being remembered by a tree in the Memorial Tree Grove."

Thank you to all who joined us for this special celebration of loved ones.
