Get Ready for Summer Session 2024 |
It’s almost time to enroll in summer courses! The Summer Session gives your student the chance to get ahead on credits while making the summer engaging and productive. Taking just one summer course between each year of college could allow students to graduate an entire semester early—saving on tuition costs.
|
| |
|
Taking a summer course can also help lift a student’s GPA or check off a Loyola Core requirement. Course sessions range from 2 to 14 weeks, with entirely online options to learn from home, or summer housing for students who want to stay on campus.
Summer Session advising begins on April 2, and registration starts on April 15. Encourage your student to talk to their advisor to see if Summer Session would be a good fit for their major and course of study. Email summer@loyno.edu for individual questions and support.

Don’t forget the FAFSA! In order to provide your student with the maximum financial support, they need to fill out the FAFSA as soon as possible to ensure prompt processing of their financial aid package. Here are a few important reminders:
|
-
The form is much simpler to fill out than ever before with streamlined questions and the ability to easily transfer tax information directly from the IRS. See these pro tips with useful information about how to complete the form.
-
Your student’s financial aid package may arrive a little later than usual this year. The Office of Financial Aid will not receive your application data until March, which will create the delay.
-
We do not anticipate changing the fall bill due dates due to this delay. Don’t let the delay be an excuse for your student to procrastinate. Have them fill out the FAFSA now.

A Message from University Chaplain Thomas Ryan, Ph.D.
“Peace to you” are Jesus’s first post-resurrection words to his cowering disciples in the Gospel of John. How devastating to them must his brutal execution on the cross have been. When he died, so did their hopes. How baffled they must have been when they saw him alive again after his resurrection.
| | |
|
Jesus’s offer of peace was productive; it produced within them an experience of God’s own peace. He delivered it to his often bumbling disciples, and he did so without condition. What a difference this experience of peace made! It enabled them to live “as if”—as if there is hope, in some mysterious way, for all creation, to live as if we have been liberated from the need to be perfect and for the flourishing of all people and all creation through our very human and fallible actions. Jesus’s words continue to address us today. Thus, Easter represents for us an opportunity to experience something of this liberating peace and to consider how we might live “as if” and so be agents of hope for a world in such need of it.
