Call for CMAS Faculty Research Associates

Each year, in fulfillment of our mandate to conduct research in Mexican American Studies and to provide a focal point for interdisciplinary research relating to Mexican Americans, the Center for Mexican American Studies (CMAS) hosts scholars from a wide range of disciplinary backgrounds who conduct research in Mexican American and/or Latino Studies as CMAS Faculty Research Associates (FRAs). CMAS is currently accepting applications from UTA faculty who wish to serve as a Faculty Research Associate for the 2023-2024 academic year.

CMAS Faculty Research Associates are entitled to a stipend to offset research expenses and are afforded the opportunity to develop their research in a supportive and stimulating forum comprised of fellow UTA colleagues through the CMAS Research Seminars that take place throughout the academic year.

To benefit from this support, Faculty Research Associates are to contribute to support the CMAS community by actively participating in the CMAS Research Seminars, CMAS Speaker Series, the Celebrando el Éxito Achievement Ceremony, and other CMAS events; contribute to the recruitment efforts of the Mexican American and Latino Studies (MAS) Minor, andserve as a facultymentor to students enrolled in the MAS Minor.

To be considered for a CMAS FRA appointment for 2023-2024, applicants shall submit a current CV and a one-page letter of application describing:

(1) Research interests/areas of specialization, (2) how the applicant’s research activities focus on Mexican Americans and Latinos and contribute to the CMAS mandate, (3) other scholarly activities that focus on Mexican Americans and Latinos, and (4) current and/or past involvement with Mexican American or Latino organizations at UTA or in the community to cmas@uta.edu by July 14, 2023.
